Today I decided on a run anywhere you fancy type run around the town centre of Bury St Edmunds. I started near the old market so as to see what progress is being made on the redevelopment into a large shoppers paradise.
However little can be seen now that the site has become for security and h&s reasons a Fort Knox with no easy visibility into the site. Obviously from reports in the Bury Free Press it is clear they are undertaking excavations and they have uncovered some of the original 19th century cobblestone paths leading to market.
The lovely old Duke of Wellington public house is still standing though is condemned to be demolished any day.
I ran up and down the grid pattern streets of Bury and into the Abbey Gardens.
I passed the local town council office which nows displays the flag of St Edmund out true patron saint of England.
Early morning or late evening is the only time you can do this kind of run and have the streets virtually to yourself.
